Since the beginning of 2023 we’ve been working on something really special.

In partnership with Leeds 2023 we’ve created

“Letting Culture Loose: A film about quiet greatness”.

It had its launch at the Everyman Cinema in Leeds and we’re really excited to share it with you now.

The film is a love letter to the people of Leeds, and examines what culture means to them and our city. Centred around The Awakening, the Leeds 2023 launch event at Headingley Stadium in January, we interviewed artists, volunteers and creatives and asked them how the city and its culture has shaped their lives; what it means not only to them personally, but in their communities across Leeds, and in a wider sense what culture and art bring to the human experience.

This project has been a real labour of love for the Sodium team. We’d like to thank all the participants who gave so generously of their time, and to Leeds 2023 who entrusted us to realise the vision we had back at the beginning of the year. There are some amazing events lined up for the rest of 2023, and we’re always in awe of how our home city and its people embrace culture in all its forms.
