BRIEF
Inspired by the Ancient Greek myth, acclaimed rapper and playwright Testament fuses spoken word and beatboxing with a cinematic score performed by members of the Orchestra and Chorus of Opera North, filling Leeds Playhouse’s Quarry Theatre with Orpheus’s dreams, his reminiscences and his struggle for redemption.
The Sodium team was involved in the creative staging, filming and editing of this project from the start, working with creatives from Opera North and Leeds Playhouse, as well as directly with Testament. The resulting film was a live capture of this astonishing show which was broadcast on BBC4 as part of its Lights Out season of live theatre, shown during the COVID pandemic.
